Life is fab with a Better World Arts hand embroidered rug. This one by Sarah Josephine Lane is so beautiful. It’s special to me because I spent time at @papulankutjaartists with Sarah and her husband and the other artists in 2019 and 2020. She’s as vibrant as her artworks and it’s great to know she gets royalties from every single sale of her licensed designs.

#frockon2022 fun and games have started!! Deanne came in to choose a silk and walked out with this superb print by Leonie Kamutu Dog Dreaming red on oyster base cloth 🤩🤩🤩
Last year she created a jumpsuit and jacket in silk that’s now clocking up the miles on its journey to events. Now we can’t wait!! @deannemcewen

Frock On 2022 will be on exhibition at Songlines in July - Aug

Thank you @canberratimes for including me in your article yesterday. It had some scary statistics about how many new things some people are buying.

None of us are perfect but every small step helps. As always use what you have before buying something new, buy second hand, swap with people and buy from small business if you can.

WAHOO! 🤩 The excitement is building. 🎉 Delighted to see the support this wonderful project is getting from luverly peeps all around Australia. It’s a crowdfunding (donation) campaign. No donation too small (or big!). We want to see our friends Ikuntji Artists publish it in May. They’re a non-profit Aboriginal owned art centre. Just needs a bit more 💖 to pay the printers. Inside the beautiful cover more than 250 pages of fabric gorgeousness awaits.

More than 80 women slow-stitched this community quilt with a message ❤️

The quilt depicts the animals, plants and biodiversity found in the NT's iconic Adelaide River system, which is best known for its crocodiles.

Indigo artist Meng Hoeschle hosted sessions at her studio to dye the quilt fabric.

The completed work was recently launched at the @territorywildlifepark to a huge crowd of women, who inspected their contributions stitched together for the first time.

Behind the scenes has been local artist Jasmine Jan, who has created this community art project and others for the Territory Wildlife Park

"A lot of these projects we do with some sort of conservation message or some sort of educational purpose and this one was raising awareness about the Adelaide River system," she said.

"It's not just about crocodiles."

"We like the idea that we're building a community of crafters but also crafters with a purpose."

"I like the idea that a quilt is something you use to keep you warm and it's a comforting thing, and I like the idea that everybody's put a little piece of themselves into this quilt."
