We just spotted Belinda with a Chris bag 😍. Her kind sister bought it for her a long time ago. She had no idea where from, only that it had been bought from a community. We could fill her in - it’s Marebu (pandanus mats) - a collaborative women’s design from @injalakarts print workshop in 2013 and the community was Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) NT. This was made for the Cross-cultural Collaboration Project by @kravanhouse.

Fantastic to see it’s still going strong!

Sarah, who hates photographs, visited us at @mindilmarket last night. Happily she didn’t mind modelling her two-year-old Delia bag that is still going strong. We love seeing our bags out in the wild.

Her bag is made from hand printed fabric designed by Lisa Multa of @ikuntjiartists

She resisted the siren call of a new one …. just. Good for sustainability - and she knows where to find us when the need arises.

We finally made it to @mindilmarket !! Look out 2024.

It was a bit amateur hour on our part. Not quite sure how to set up the new marquee (who reads instructions?) and other little stuff-ups, but we got there in the end. Thankfully I didn’t to my usual thing of dragging along mountains of stock. There’ll be lots of tweaking in coming weeks.

Met some really nice people and told quite a few peeps about @songlines_arts (at least half of those being Darwin residents).

Joy Borruwa was keen to get back on the screen print table. During my last visit to Ramingining she tried her hand at printing and got the bug. We’re both very inexperienced but it was good fun and so rewarding to have a go and get the first print of Ngambi (spear heads) by Evonne Gayuwrri on the red linen. It was later overprinted and offset. The last pic is us printing Andrew Wanamilil’s Lidjilidji (finches) screen. Thanks to @bulabulaarts - some of the fabrics we printed will become merch (bags).

The fabulous Dion printing some very special labels. The rest of the project is embargoed for now but can’t wait to share it with you. Just know that it features fabric and is a collaboration between Bula’Bula Arts and @blackcatcouturent and will be on the runway in Darwin in August.

Lurrpu (cockatoos) fabric hand printed on country in Ramingining and made by the Women For Women team.

She couldn’t resist this amazing Delia bag featuring a fabric print created by @anindilyakwa_arts … and …. it’s a print of Pandanus weaving and Pandanus strands!!! Perfect ⭐️

The bag was made by @flyingfoxfabrics in collaboration with @womenforwomencambodia - a social enterprise that employs disabled women in Phnom Penh.

Thanks to these terrific blokes for sorting the electrics on my new market-ready wheels. Not sure what their business name is but they’re in Duke Street, Stuart Park.
This little gem of trailer was waiting on Facebook marketplace for weeks to meet me…. which is extremely lucky as I’d completely overlooked that we’d need something bigger than a RAV4 to lug stuff about.
