One of The Kangaroos’ biggest fans has come to town. Zeza Nampijinpa travelled from Yuendumu to Darwin (approx 1,800 km) to see her beloved AFL team play live. No, it hasn’t been raining. She was checking in at @songlines to say hello and pick up royalties for her superb fabric designs with @flyingfoxfabrics - so she could buy a guernsey to get signed by the players. She’s “going to put it in glass frame”. Hope she got the guernsey and the signatures.

Then she saw this brand new @bulabulaarts hand-printed t-shirt and had to have it!! 😍 Was a match made in heaven.

Hope they do her proud. She has incredible footballers in her own family too.

We are very excited to announce we are now printing for @yalanjiarts⁠
Located in far northern Queensland and surrounded by lush tropical rainforest the centre is known for its beautiful ceramics, artworks and textiles.⁠
Publisher is now printing 5 designs for the centre, kicking it off with this incredible 5 colour Cassowary design by Karen Shuuan.⁠
This beauty was a bit of a challenge for us here at Publisher, we are still working on how to print it using our large format screens, so for now we are printing one side of the cassowaries at a time, a bit more labour intensive, but the result was very much worth it!⁠
I will never stop pinching myself over the truely awe inspiring artists we get to work with here at Publisher!! A huge thank you to Yalanji for trusting us to bring your designs to life and I'm so excited for your next run!!

We just spotted Belinda with a Chris bag 😍. Her kind sister bought it for her a long time ago. She had no idea where from, only that it had been bought from a community. We could fill her in - it’s Marebu (pandanus mats) - a collaborative women’s design from @injalakarts print workshop in 2013 and the community was Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) NT. This was made for the Cross-cultural Collaboration Project by @kravanhouse.

Fantastic to see it’s still going strong!

Sarah, who hates photographs, visited us at @mindilmarket last night. Happily she didn’t mind modelling her two-year-old Delia bag that is still going strong. We love seeing our bags out in the wild.

Her bag is made from hand printed fabric designed by Lisa Multa of @ikuntjiartists

She resisted the siren call of a new one …. just. Good for sustainability - and she knows where to find us when the need arises.

We finally made it to @mindilmarket !! Look out 2024.

It was a bit amateur hour on our part. Not quite sure how to set up the new marquee (who reads instructions?) and other little stuff-ups, but we got there in the end. Thankfully I didn’t to my usual thing of dragging along mountains of stock. There’ll be lots of tweaking in coming weeks.

Met some really nice people and told quite a few peeps about @songlines_arts (at least half of those being Darwin residents).

Joy Borruwa was keen to get back on the screen print table. During my last visit to Ramingining she tried her hand at printing and got the bug. We’re both very inexperienced but it was good fun and so rewarding to have a go and get the first print of Ngambi (spear heads) by Evonne Gayuwrri on the red linen. It was later overprinted and offset. The last pic is us printing Andrew Wanamilil’s Lidjilidji (finches) screen. Thanks to @bulabulaarts - some of the fabrics we printed will become merch (bags).

The fabulous Dion printing some very special labels. The rest of the project is embargoed for now but can’t wait to share it with you. Just know that it features fabric and is a collaboration between Bula’Bula Arts and @blackcatcouturent and will be on the runway in Darwin in August.
