@ni_ayu_suriati is a local legend. She makes beautiful, affordable clothes from art centre fabrics and sells them at @parapvillage Saturday markets and @nightcliffmarkets on Sundays. I get to see so many of her frocks around the place. She recently topped up on @merrepenarts fabrics - creations coming soon!!
Merrepen stock (and Flying Fox Fabrics goodies) are at @songlines_arts - which will be open tomorrow (Friday) morning - 2nd January.

Third post in a triptych. This is the dress seen in our last two posts being worn, beautifully, by the new owner - Poppy! She came into the @songlines_arts Pop-Up today. Had to get this.

L-R @injalakarts collaborative Marebu (mats) design, @merrepenarts Billabong design by Patricia Marrfurra, and (rarely seen) Didgeridoo and, finally, a whacky Hollow Logs design from @babbarradesigns

I ♥️ fabrics. Jo (ex Raw Cloth) joined us for a pop-up in Darwin (at the former Songlines) last Saturday. It was so cool to have her on board. Babbarra left some fabrics, including this silk, on consignment. Jo found it. Fast forward to Tuesday and see what Jo has whipped up.
More magic coming the next two Saturdays. Same bat time, same bat channel!!!

So the big dilemma .. accessorising for a cyclone. We’ve opted to snuggle up with cushions from @babbarradesigns and @blackcatcouturent featuring a snippet of the great @merrepenarts Flood print by Christina Yambeing … hopefully not an omen. Complemented with a handwoven cotton rug from @a.n.d._fair_trade_cambodia
It’s a shame I can’t share Peur des Possum - courtesy of the furry critters nested in the upper floor cavity 👃

At Flying Fox Fabrics’ brand new digs downstairs (pardon the grottiness and mess, we’ve only half moved in) we’re a few hours from peak dramarama but the rain and wind are steadily ratcheting up. We have a donated sofa bed (thank you @lindawrightmcp73) that we’ll probably be spending quite hours on - whether upright or horizontal.

💜 Getting to meet repeat customers is such a delight 🥰 Katie happily (and graciously) agreed to share her story.
She is replacing her much loved @nagulajarndu (Gabriella Baxter’s Poinciana seeds) Carla purse with a @merrepenarts (Kieren’s Fish Nets) one whilst wearing her Merrepen Arts Nancy Bag (Marita Sambono’s Fog). Both products made with care by our wonderful partner Kravan House.

We actually get so many loyal customers (I call recidivists) for our tiny brand that I suspect we are veering towards cult status territory. Usually markets are too busy to grab testimonials, but was thrilled Katie and I both had time to get this.
